Welcome to my personal web pages, a sort of autobiographical miscellany, where I tell my story, or fragments of it. I am not at all sure whether anyone will be interested in reading what I have to say, or even why they should, but I shall enjoy producing it.
My Vousden One-Name Study is a worldwide study of people with the Vousden surname. This is my grandma's maiden name, and I have traced her family back over more than four centuries, and accumulated a wealth of information in the process, which I now propose to share, and hopefully add to.
I have now created a dedicated web site for the Vousden One-Name Study and so, if you have any Vousden family interest, or just curiosity, please contact me by e-mail at the Vousden One-Name Study or go now to the web site.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Nigel Brown
The original Cradley Links web site was launched in 2001 and went from strength to strength until a fateful day in February 2005, when it went off the air.
The site was widely recognised for the quality of its content and also for its easy navigation. It was described as "fabulous" by GENUKI (the leading UK & Ireland Genealogy web portal site) and "extremely well-designed" by Family History Monthly magazine.
The original Cradley Links site is now back online, well, most of it. It is at its old address: www.cradleylinks.com, "frozen" at the date it ended, but as relevant and "fabulous" as ever.
There is now a new Cradley Links web site, dedicated to the local and family history of Cradley town in the Black Country.
Following in the footsteps of our predecessor, we invite you to contribute to these pages. Write up your favourite Cradley family history story, or tell us about a bit of Cradley that has gone, or your childhood in Cradley.
We make the same promise as before: fame and fortune will be yours. Well, perhaps not, but your contribution will be part of your legacy.
The address is www.cradleylinks.co.uk.
My interest in the Vousdens begins with my paternal grandmother, born Agnes Minnie Lucy Vousden in Shoreditch, London in 1893.
I have traced my Vousden family back to my 6 x great grandparents, John Vousden and Sarah Wousley, both "of Goudhurst parish", who married on 20 November 1733, and with lesser surety to my 11 x great grandfather, another John Vousden.
My fascination with this long line of Vousdens has led me to start a Vousden one-name study and establish a dedicated web site at www.vousden.name.
